Nope, gotta be on the roster as of the trade deadline to be eligible for an 8 year contract. Flyers paid a 5th rounder to be able to exclusively negotiate with him for 20 days, until the June 23rd UFA interview period opens.

Sorry Ek but you need to think deeper on this. Duchene's camp has probably leaked that he is looking for an 8-year deal. Players talk. Agents talk. And nobody ever gets charged with tampering. How do you think Stone signed a deal 5 seconds after arriving in Vegas.

So Nashville likely knows Duchene's terms. If he wants 8 years then they'll acquire his rights and make it happen.
